While matza crumbs dance
across the crisp table-cloth,
and freshly-grated horseradish
leaps from the Haggadah,
bolts through the door
opened for Elijah
into the Redemption-filled night.
Ruth Fogelman was born in England and has lived in Jerusalem’s Old City for most of her life. She is the author of four books. Her poems, articles, short stories and photography have appeared in anthologies and various publications in Israel, USA and India, including Arc, Back to Joy: Little Reminders to Help Us Through Tough Times, The Deronda Review, Prosopisia, Poetica, and the International Literary Review. Ruth holds a Masters Degree from the Creative Writing Program of Bar Ilan University and leads the Pri Hadash Women’s Writing Workshop in Jerusalem.
