In a most holy and Supernal place,
Beyond what we know of as time and space
A soul is chosen from ‘neath the Holy throne
Trembling yet accepting as her task is made known
A mission only the strongest of souls can take
With enormous effort a Kiddush Hashem to make
To be engaged in a constant struggle and fight
Without clearly understanding what’s wrong and what’s right
A questioning mind and a nature to rebel
A Yetzer Horo so strong nearly impossible to quell
She descends to a world where her challenges wait
Yet she is empowered with ability equally great
The mission is difficult, I won’t deny that it’s true
But she has what it takes to succeed and come through.
And though it may take a little bit longer
The neshama will return very much stronger.
For each small gain gives Hashem much delight
The smallest of flames in the long and dark night.
We mortals have no idea how to measure
Which of man’s tests gives Hashem the most pleasure
We cannot judge one person’s deeds by another’s
No two people are the same not even two brothers
Hashem in His wisdom puts in one family
Souls so diverse each to his own destiny.
So if you merit to parent a challenging child
Do not despair if his nature seems wild.
Look beyond the chutzpah peer into his soul
It craves truth and goodness, it will always stay whole.
Appreciate his struggles, recognise each good endeavour,
For the bad is temporal, but the good lasts forever.
